Women

Moxie

If you’d like to join the Moxie Messaging group in the app, please contact Angel.

The women of Second Mile desire to come together to pursue Jesus with strength, earnestness, and femininity that pleases Jesus. We hope to live out this life with “moxie” which means courage, fearlessness, and the ability to face difficult situations with spirit and backbone. Women who live with moxie are not weak-willed, blown and tossed around by every wave of circumstance and culture. They are strong in their understanding of Jesus, who they are in Christ, and the world around them.

“But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.” Hebrews 10:39

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” Proverbs 31:25

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Vision Statement

We seek to encourage and strengthen one another to live whole lives in Christ, to be grounded in God’s Word, and open our mouths about Jesus in our spheres of influence.

Moxie Mentors

Mentoring begins when a woman humbles herself to learn from another woman who is a little further along in her spiritual journey. Meeting someone during a Sunday morning gathering, a Bible study, or a core community relationships emerge in which teaching, training, and accountability take place. Through Moxie Mentors, we sharpen one another to become strong-willed women of God.

Bible Studies and Book Groups

Throughout the year we host Bible studies to help women grow in their understanding of Scripture and to help women connect with other women. These studies change regularly and the groups last six to ten weeks depending on the study.

Book groups are led by women who have read a specific book that helped them grow in their pursuit of God. Women who participate in these groups will read assigned chapters during the week and come together to discuss the ideas, concepts, and challenges in the book. We hope these groups will challenge people to grow in their faith as well as provide opportunities to meet and connect with other women.

Retreat de Moxie

Once a year, the women retreat to the mountains to get away from the busyness of life for one short weekend. We open our bibles together to drink deeply from God’s Word. We sing and worship Jesus at the top of our lungs. We engage with old friends, make new friends, and allow our hearts, minds, and souls the opportunity to laugh, cry, and rejuvenate. The weekend getaway is the 5th weekend after Labor Day, typically the last weekend of September or the first weekend of October. Mark your calendar now and make plans to attend.
